AboutOur Story: The Torch is Passed
At one time, three generations of Cranes worked hand in hand. In 2003, Bill Sr. passed away, his wife Margie following in 2005. Anita was taken from us in 1999. We believe that they are still with us in spirit, reminding us to do things the right and honest way. Today, Bill Jr. and his two sons, John and Gary, continue to work in the company. John Crane serves as Vice president, and Gary Crane is our Secretary/Treasurer. Bill Jr. later married Carole. A third generation of girls is growing up quickly. Our employees are just like family members too, some of them starting their careers here as part-time employees when they were in high school. Our greatest strength is our dedicated staff.
Nowadays, we belong to one of the largest buying groups in the country, called Brand Source. A close-knit group of over 2,000 independent dealers from the USA, Canada and South America, our group negotiates with all major manufacturers to assure we can be competitive with the Big Box chain stores. It's sort of like the old days out West when the settlers circled the wagons and banded together for collective strength. As a group, Brand Source is much larger than most chain stores with multi-billion buying power. Like the biblical David, our individual companies wouldn't get very good odds against those Goliaths, but by combining our strength and partnering with Brand Source, we can win the battle as long as we place our customers first. That's one thing that has not changed at Alton Refrigeration & Home Furnishings in all these years. We take great satisfaction in providing promptness, quality and affordable service to our customers. |
